We have all been given a short story in the midst of a grand narrative that has been unfolding since the beginning of time. A Short Story seeks to uncover beauty within peoples stories, and to create a culture of community within our current society that is reinforcing separation. We feel that culture is cultivated through the media, business, and clothing.
Media: We seek to tell stories, by whatever medium necessary, of the human experience, to show the wonder and beauty amidst all times, good or bad, within our lives. We will use film, music, photography, and writing to affirm each person’s divine attributes.
Business: We plan to use our storytelling ability to help build brand identity for small businesses and nonprofit organizations who share our mindsets in crafting a more communal society. Our ability to tell stories will break down the distance between customers and businesses that there currently is. The people we buy from and do business with, affect our environment more than we may truly understand.
Clothing: The clothing we wear speaks so much about each persons personality. We want to design a line of clothing that speaks the highlighting the beauty of each persons life, or short story if you will.
21 YEARS OLD. LANCASTER. FILMMAKER/ENTREPRENEUR
“With everything I create, I strive to find the beauty in everything. The films I craft, the stories I write, and the businesses I lead, I hope to make a positive impact on the world and spread love to every person I interact with. “
In case you have not guessed it, I’m Alex Stinson, founder and CEO of A Short Story, and yes, the one pictured above with the luscious hair.
One of my main skills is my ability to view everything from a different perspective. With everything I create, I hope to invite the viewer into the beauty through experiencing each situation from a new and unique perspective. I have a passion for bringing people together and leading them towards growth, especially through my artistic gifts which are able to communicate my perceptions. Communication is vital, for every person, but the best leaders in business or culture have strong communication abilities. My ability to communicate will always have room for growth, but throughout the last couple years I have become aware of my ability to articulate my thoughts and make sure the people I am forming relationships with understand who I am, as wells as what I’m all about. Leaders, especially ones seeking to shift cultural and societal perceptions, need to be able to communicate properly.
Every story has its ups and downs, and my story is no exception. Ignorance riddled my life until the age of eighteen, and from that point on I have found passion and purpose for everything I do. My story is too long for this small paragraph, but if there is one thing to take away from my story is that I am not the person I was when I was sixteen, eighteen, or even the same person I was a year ago. For no reason except pure and true love, I have been forgiven, and I hope I can share an ounce of that love in the things I create.
